Basketball season for Natchitoches Magnet school seventh and eighth graders is underway and they hit the court focused.
The roster includes Christian Anthony, Derrian Anthony, Devon Brown, Derrick Clark, J. Cooper, Naiim Helaire, Stephen Hymes, Anthony Jernigan, Colby Jett, Brycen Jones, Wyatt Landing, Jeron Larry, Nathan Lovemore, Jay Maree, Vance Montgomery, Joshua Nolley, Jayden Phanor, DJ Ridley and Kevin Rodriguez.
DeVodrick Ridley coaches the teams.
They hosted Goldonna Oct. 25. Final score was 56 Magnet, 17 Goldonna. Joshua Nolley led scoring for Magnet with 10 points. Contributing to the victory was Derrian Anthony, 7, DJ Ridley, 6, Vance Montgomery, 4, Colby Jett, 4, JJ Jernigan, 5, Devon Brown, 4, and Naiim Helaire, 3. Rounding out the scoring with 2 points each were Christian Anthony, Jay Maree, Bryson Jones, Derrick Clark, Stephen Hymes and JD Phanor and hitting a free throw for 1 point, Kevin Rodriguez.
The boys hit the hardwood again Oct. 29 when the seventh graders faced off against Marthaville for a 36-18 victory.
JD Phanor had the only double-digit score with 14 points. Rounding out the scores were Derrian Anthony and Derrick Clark with 8 each. Devon Brown contributed 2 points.
The eighth grade boys found success between the hoops as well. Contributing to the 37-8 victory were DJ Ridley with 12, Naiim Helaire, 8, Jeron Larry, 5, Christian Anthony, 4, Brycen Jones, 4, Colby Jett, 2, and Vance Montgomery, 2.
