E.D. White wins Classic on the Cane Marching Contest

E.D. White High School was named Grand Champion of the 30th annual Classic on the Cane Marching Contest held in Turpin Stadium at Northwestern State University. More than 5,000 spectators watched 32 high school bands from Louisiana and Texas take part in the day-long competition, which was livestreamed at banddirector.com. The event was sponsored by the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band, which performed at the conclusion of the competition, and the Band House Music Store.

Mabank (Texas) was second followed by Central, Acadiana and Airline.

Airline was named Best in Class in Classification IV and earned the outstanding percussion award. Sam Houston received the outstanding auxiliary award.

E.D. White was the first place band in Classification III with Mabank second and Acadiana third. Mabank had the outstanding percussion section and E.D. White had the outstanding auxiliary section.

In Classification II, Central was Best in Class and received the outstanding auxiliary award. Pineville earned the outstanding percussion award.

Ruston earned first place in Classification 1A with Parkview Baptist second and Byrd in third. Brusly earned the outstanding percussion award and Byrd received the outstanding auxiliary award.

Delcambre received first place in Classification 1B while Pickering was second and Buckeye was third. Buckeye earned the outstanding percussion award and Delcambre received the outstanding auxiliary award.
