The St. Denis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion and VFW Auxillary, with a few volunteers, continued it’s yearly tradition of decorating the well-known Patriotic Tree at the City Bank downtown branch Tuesday, Nov. 6.
The tree, now standing in the middle of the bank’s lobby, honors veterans and features the names of over 700 veterans, listed on red, white and blue stars. Red stars stand for active duty personnel, white stars are for deceased veterans and blue stars are for living veterans. The bank also provides access to a master list of names on the stars.
The tree will be on display for the public until Nov. 20 during regular banking hours, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Veterans Park behind the old courthouse will be the location for the Veterans Day Program Sunday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
