Magnet JV travels to Marthaville, Provencal

Marthaville seventh and eighth grade boys basketball team hosted Magnet Nov. 5. Magnet coach DeVodrick Ridley provided stats for the games. Magnet seventh graders cruised to a 24-8 victory with seven players contributing to the overall score. Derrian Anthony had 7 points and five steals while Jayden Phanor also had 7 points and seven rebounds.

Derrick Clark put up 6 points and eight rebounds. Anthony Jernigan rounded out scoring with 4 points. Magnet eighth graders also claimed victory, 32-10. Joshua Nolley had 11 points and seven steals for the night, D.J. Ridley had 10 points, nine rebounds and five steals and Christian Anthony contributed 4 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Naiim Helaire, 2 points and six steals, Jay Maree, 2 points, Jeron Larry, 2 points and eight rebounds, and Vance Montgomery, 1 point.

Provencal hosted Magnet Thursday, Nov. 8. In the first game, Provencal put 19 points on the board to Magnet’s 33. For the win, Anthony Jernigan put up 10 points, Derrian Anthony added 9 and Jayden Phanor had 8 points and 12 rebounds.

Rounding out the scoring were Devon Brown, 6, and Derrick Clark, 4 points and seven rebounds. The tables were turned for the eighth grade game with Provencal scoring 25 and Magnet 22. For the win, top scorers for Provencal were Zack Patero with 11 and Seth Potter with 5. Contributing to Magnet were D.J. Ridley, 9 points and nine rebounds and Joshua Nolley, 7 points, nine rebounds.

Vance Montgomery, Jay Maree and Christian Anthony each contributed 2 points.
