If one ever needed validation that newspapers are relevant, needed and read, there is finally proof.
Julie Vidler Morris of the Mansfield Enterprise, announced on social media Nov. 14 she would be back at the paper starting Monday, Nov. 19 in the capacity as editor. The overwhelming reaction to her announcement was apparent within 20 minutes. There were over 30 comments and almost 100 likes at that time. In 24 hours, the post generated 346 reactions and 180 comments, the majority congratulatory.
Among the comments were the need for community news and local reporting and the public’s confidence in Morris.
Also, the newspaper is the parish and city’s official journal and the source for all legal notices, a vital service to the community.
Morris stated in her post she will, “once again begin gathering the area news you want to read and hear about” along with a plea to former readers, columnists and advertisers to return to the paper.
Based on the feedback, residents are ready and willing to support the newspaper, and all it offers, with a local at the

helm.
