Alexandria woman killed in crash

Earlier today, Nov. 27, a crash involving two vehicles killed a woman from Alexandria who was not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers responded to the crash around 9:20 a.m. on LA Hwy 3170 near LA Hwy 457.  The crash involved a 2015 Freightliner (box truck) driven by Chandler A. Lewis, w/m, 24, of Alexandria and a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage driven by Leminee O. Issac, b/f, 24.  The Freightliner was eastbound on LA Hwy 3170 when Lewis lost control and crossed the centerline into the opposing lane. This action resulted in the Freightliner colliding head-on with the westbound Mitsubishi.

Lewis was wearing his seat belt and sustained minor injuries.  He was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center for treatment.

Issac was pronounced dead at the scene.

Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending.  The crash remains under investigation.

In 2018, Troop E has investigated 44 fatal crashes resulting in 48 deaths.
