LSP Troop E
Winn Parish – Troopers responded to the crash around 12:15 p.m. Dec. 3 on LA Hwy 34, east of Joyce. The crash involved a 1998 Acura, driven by Martha W. Stone, w/f, 78, of Sikes. The Acura was eastbound on LA Hwy 34 when Stone lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree.
She was not wearing a seat belt.
Stone was pronounced dead at the scene.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
In 2018, Troop E has investigated 46 fatal crashes resulting in 50 deaths.
