MABEL MORAN METOYER

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mabel Moran Metoyer will be Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cloutierville with the Rev. Christian Ogbonna and the Rev. John Cunningham serving as co-celebrants. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9-10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 am.
Mabel, 108, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, in Natchitoches. She was born on Dec. 3, 1910, to Peter Moran and Attilia LaCour Moran in Derry. She was preceded in death by her husband August Metoyer Sr., a son, August Metoyer Jr. and her siblings, Sidney Moran, Lena Rachal, Ethel Roberts, Ernest Moran and an infant brother, Abe Moran. She was a long-time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a founding member of the Altar Society at St. John’s.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Severin and husband John of Romeoville, Ill., Artelia Dunn and late husband, Neal of Cloutierville; and Peter S. Metoyer and wife Anna of Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Dorena Huey and Henrietta Hackley. She was blessed with five generations of family members including fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Tony Moran, Glenn Severin, Colby Dunn, Paul Severin, August Metoyer III, Clinton Dunn and Greg Dunn.
