Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies found Kayla Sheryl Brown, 24, of Philadelphia, Pa. and her 1-year-old pit bulldog “Beanu” at approximately 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19.

A motorist traveling on I-49 had seen the NPSO Facebook post and media advisories concerning Brown and contacted the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office to report seeing a female walking near I-49 near the Cypress exit.

Deputies found Brown and her dog.

Both were transported to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office where Brown was given dry clothes and both she and her dog received food.

They had been the subject of a search since Friday after she was reported missing and deputies wanted to check on her welfare.

Deputies are in the process of contacting Brown’s family members and assisting her.

Deputies say while interviewing Brown, she informed them she had a panic attack and just wanted to leave the group and area because it was a wilderness area and nothing was around them, only trees.

She also informed deputies she ate mushrooms, berries, nuts and drank water from the creeks during her three-four day journey, mostly in the woods.

Sheriff Jones would like to thank Mrs. A. Merrell for being a caring, concerned and observant citizen and contacted the NPSO to help this young lady. “We also thank the media outlets for their assistance in helping us with missing persons case,”Jones said.
