The unauthorized use of a vehicle and outstanding warrants in Natchitoches and Red River Parishes led to the arrests of two Red River Parish residents in Natchitoches Parish.

Red River Parish Sheriff’s Deputies contacted the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Dec 22 requesting deputies BOLO (Be on the Lookout) for a black 2019 Jeep Latitude possibly occupied by Gretchen Shaver, 24, and Eric Lindsey, 33, both of Coushatta.

The vehicle had been reported taken in Red River Parish without the owner’s permission.

Shaver and Lindsey were also wanted on outstanding warrants in Natchitoches and Red River Parishes.

Patrol deputies received a tip Dec. 23 just after 2 p.m. that Shaver and Lindsey, in the stolen Jeep, were at a business on Keyser Avenue in Natchitoches.

Responding deputies observed the couple walking out of the business and made contact with Lindsey. He resisted, but complied a short time later.

During a search of Lindsey’s person incidental to his arrest, deputies discovered a glass pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics containing a white residue in his front pocket along with a set of keys and key fob.

Deputies activated the key fob and recovered the Jeep a short distance away.

Shaver was placed under arrest without incident.

Deputies learned during the arrests possible illegal narcotics were in the vehicle and requested assistance from Drug Task Force Agents.

A Drug Task Force Narcotics Detection K-9 also responded.

The owner of the vehicle was contacted and responded to the scene.

A Tenth Judicial District Court Judge issued a warrant to search the vehicle

based on information obtained and a positive narcotics K-9 alert to the vehicle. The owner also gave permission to search.

During the search, deputies seized approximately 6.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 1.9 grams of suspected marijuana, suspected hydrocodone narcotic pills, suspected clonzapam narcotic pills and drug paraphernalia.

The seized narcotics will be submitted to the crime lab for analysis and identification for criminal court proceedings.
