OEP Director Mary Jones provided National Weather Service rainfall reports for the month of December as well as annual total accumulated precipitation.

December 2018 recorded the third highest total precipitation, 10.56 inches, in the Natchitoches area.

The most rainfall in December was recorded in 1982, with 21.77 inches. Rounding out the top three is December 2002 with 11.20 inches.

In 1968, the maximum 1-year total precipitation was 81.72 inches, ranking that year in the number one slot in more than a century. At 76.46 inches, 2001 came in second and 1989 rounded out the top three with a total annual precipitation of 74.65 inches.
