State Housing Director will speak about home ownership

There will be a housing meeting at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. at the City’s Municipal Building next door to the City of Natchitoches Fire Dept., on Second Street to inform residents about home ownership. La. State Housing Director Brenda Evans will speak about the following topics:

•Down payment assistance

•Homebuyer tax credit (mortgage credit certificate)

•Mortgage revenue bond loans

•Mortgage loans

•Homebuyer education

•Moving into a new home in 2019 The event will be presented by the La.

Housing Corp., of which Keith Cunningham Jr. is the director. Other members of the team are Barry Brooks and Evans. Councilwoman Sylvia Morrow is bringing the group to town because they offer cost-saving home loan programs designed to make ownership more affordable for citizens needing a home.

Other hosts include Parish Council Woman Patsy Ward-Hoover, Carolyn Sawyer, Natchez Mayor Rosia Humphrey and members of Jackson Square/Bailey Heights Community Association Inc. “We are looking forward to seeing the La. Municipal Association President Mayor Harry Lewis at this housing meeting,” Morrow said. “For most families, buying a home is their largest investment and greatest source of wealth.”
