A Mass of Christian Burial for John H. Vercher will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at Blanchard – St. Denis Funeral Home with the Rev. Louis Sklar officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in the Trichel Community. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 at the funeral home.

Mr. Vercher, 81, and a resident of Clarence, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, in Bossier City. He was born March 23, 1937, in Clarence to Joseph Leon Vercher and Myrtle Arledge Vercher.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed always eating his dessert first.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 50 years, Kittie Sue DeLoach Vercher; brother, Joseph Leon Vercher Jr.; and sister, Elmena Howell.

He is survived by his son, Keith Vercher and wife Kristi; daughters, Susan Hennigan and husband Al, Rebecca Prestenbach and husband Robert, and Frances Ezernack and husband Keven; sister, Elizabeth Trichel; grandchildren, Lillian Dixon, Lynthus Hennigan IV and wife Kayla, Nathan Vercher, John William Vercher, Lanze Ezernack and Lukas Ezernack; great-grandchildren, Violet Dixon, Jase Ruiz, Asher Hennigan and Bryna Hennigan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Nathan Vercher, John William Vercher, Keven Ezernack, Lanze Ezernack, Lukas Ezernack and Lynthus Hennigan IV.

The family would like to take this opportunity to express its appreciation to the third wing of the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Bossier as well as a special thank you to our guardian angels, Gordan and Caroline Bryant.
