Relay for Life 2019 – Carnival for a Cure, Step Right Up to Knock Cancer Down

275

The Natchitoches Parish Relay for Life event has grown so much over the years and it’s all thanks to sponsors and volunteers in the community fighting back against cancer. Each year, up to 50 tent sites circle the Tailgating Field at NSU and several gather to play games and enjoy live entertainment and food.

Relay for Life is a team fundraising event where members take turn walking around the field. This year, it will be Friday, April 26 from 6 p.m. – 2 a.m. at the NSU Tailgating Field. Each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Cancer patients don’t stop because they’re tired, and for one night, neither will participants.

Each team will have a themed campsite and will continue fundraising efforts by collecting food, goods, games and have activities for participants. Money will count towards their overall team fundraising goal.

Also this year, they will roll out the circus tents and set up carnival themed games for the theme “Carnival for a Cure!” Any family, school, church and business teams that want to sign up, visit www.relayforlife.org/natchitochesla or come by the next team meeting, set for Thursday, Jan. 24 at 5:30 in the President’s Room in NSU’s Student Union.
