Martra “Marty” Murphy Eades, 96, went to her heavenly home Jan. 25, 2019. She was surrounded by loved ones in her home in Kerrville, Texas.
She was born to Martha Elizabeth and Earnest Albert Murphy in a logging tent near Provencal in 1922. She was the only sister to six brothers.
Marty graduated high school in Mt. Carmel in 1939. In 1943, she graduated from Louisiana Normal College, now Northwestern State University, in Natchitoches. She married Edward “Ed” Eades, whom she met in Natchitoches, and they were married 65 years.
Marty retired from Exxon Mobil as an executive secretary in Houston. She and Ed traveled the entire continental United States before moving to San Diego, Calif. They moved to Kerrville in 1983. She loved Kerrville and was loved by all she met. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed.
She is survived by her brothers, Dwane Murphy and wife Cecile, Mike Murphy and wife Pat, Steve Murphy and wife Bonnie; 16 nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Though independent, in her later years she was loved and cared for by neighbors and her special friends, Berta and Domingo Villarreal and Dora Sanchez.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for the concern and prayers of so many. At Marty’s request, there will be no formal services. Her cremains will join her husband, Ed Eades, in Fort Sam Houston Military Cemetery in San Antonio.
