You can find local band Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs jamming out at many events in Natchitoches throughout the year

Wedding planning website “The Knot” has recently announced that Natchitoches musical group Johnny Earthquake and The Moondogs have been selected as a 2019 winner in The Knot’s Best of Weddings for the fourth consecutive year, an award representing the highest-rated wedding professionals as reviewed by real couples, their families and wedding guests on the website.

By receiving this award for four years, the group has received the honor of being inducted into The Knot’s Wedding Hall of Fame. In 2019, only 2 percent of the 250,000 local wedding professionals listed on TheKnot.com have received this distinguished accolade. “We were pretty shocked, to be honest,” said guitarist Adam Guillory, recalling the band’s reaction when they learned of the award. “We love playing for weddings and think we’re pretty good at it, but we never dreamed we’d receive such a prestigious award from the country’s top wedding planning company. Especially four years in a row. It’s incredible! Not to mention the fact that we are now in their Hall of Fame- it’s just beyond words for us.” Guillory said it doesn’t hurt that Natchitoches has become a top wedding destination. “Although we play weddings all over, Natchitoches is still our favorite place to play. We’re proud to be from Natchitoches and share this national award with our city.” “What’s funny about that,” said Chuck Lacroix of Alexandria, the bands’ trumpeter is we don’t consider ourselves a ‘Wedding Band,’ per se. We play a lot of weddings and love doing them and apparently some people think we’re among the best at it, but to us we’re just a high-energy show band that plays great music and brings the party wherever we go.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s a wedding, festival, Mardi Gras Ball or party, private event, or a concert on the beach in Pensacola before thousands of people (which the band has played annually for seven straight years), we’re just playing ‘the stuff that screams are made of’ and having a great time doing it. I think the fact that we love what we do and are having a great time translates to the crowd.”

The band is taking bookings for receptions, Mardi Gras Balls, charity events and more in 2019. For more information on booking, contact Guillory at (318) 201-6363 or adam.guillory@ gmail.com.
