The Mystic Krewe de St. Denis announces the 2019 Captain and Belle of the Ball, Joe Cunningham Jr. and Janice Susan Barron. They will reign over the Krewe’s 42nd Tableau and Ball with other royalty Feb. 23 at the Natchitoches Events Center.
Krewe member Joe Cunningham Jr. will serve as the 2019 Mystic Krewe de Saint Denis Captain of the Ball. Cunningham graduated from Natchitoches Central High School in 1980 and Northwestern State University in 1984. He is the owner and president of the Cunningham Financial Group and the Cunningham Insurance Agency. Cunningham was a past president of the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Natchitoches Jaycees and was honored as the BOD Independent Insurance Agents of Louisiana. His hobbies involve anything outdoors. Cunningham is married to the former Terri Ellis. They have three children, Joe III, Caitlin and Scott; along with two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Josie.
Barron will serve as the 2019 Mystic Krewe de Saint Denis Belle of the Ball. Barron is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and is a retired fifth grade teacher after spending 30 years in the classroom. During her career, Barron was awarded Teacher of the Year for Lincoln Parish and Outstanding 4-H Leader. Currently, she is on the board of the Natchitoches Historic Foundation and a member of Chapter BK of the PEO sisterhood. Her hobbies include sewing, crafting and decorating. Barron is married to Charter Krewe member Ben Barron and has one son, Max Wilson of Ruston. See more of the royal court in upcoming editions.
