Celebrating Black History – Joyce Conant

Joyce Conant is an independent executive senior sales director for Mary Kay Inc. She had a 22-year career in nutrition and health care, which included 14 years with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, when she decided to work for Mary Kay Inc.

Within three years of starting her business 26 years ago as a part-time venture, she was making more part-time than on her full-time job. Earning the use of 12 prestigious pink Cadillacs is a symbol of her success in Mary Kay. “However, it is not something you can do alone,” Conant says.

For 23 years, her personal unit has produced from $300,000 to $600,000 in retail sales annually. She credits sales directors and consultants with helping her achieve her success. Conant is a graduate of Grambling State University with a bachelor of science degree in Institution Management; a master’s degree in food and nutrition from Northwestern State; and certification in Health Care Administration from the University of New Orleans.

She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Joseph Dudley Conant, for 45 years and has one son, Rod Rachal.

“The Mary Kay philosophy of God first, family second and career third was also very intriguing.  I was willing to take the risk, leave my job to do what I had always wanted to do, build my own business! I never looked back!”
