Texas fugitive arrested during traffic stop



A Texas fugitive was arrested by Campti Police and Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s deputies during a traffic stop Saturday, Feb. 16 at 9:58 p.m. Campti Police stopped a 2018 Ford pickup on US-71 near La. Hwy 9 in Campti for a traffic violation.

The operator was identified as Jacob Aaron Hays, 24, of Castor. During a NLETS driver’s license/NCIC background check, Campti Police learned Hays was wanted by Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall, Texas, since Jan. 29 for Assault Bodily Injury to a Family Member.

NPSO deputies responded to assist. Hays was arrested without incident, transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Texas Fugitive-Assault Bodily Injury to a Family Member.

Hays remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center awaiting extradition to Texas.
