Cadet Second Lt. Anna Smith (Sr Category), left, and Cadet MSgt. Ethan Smith (Jr Category) were selected as Lakeview High School’s Air Force JROTC cadets of the quarter during an awards ceremony Jan. 31 at Lakeview High School. Cadet Anna Smith posted a 4.0 GPA, a 100 percent average in Air Force JROTC, performed 21 hours of community service this quarter and is a drill team and color guard commander. Cadet Ethan Smith also had a 4.0 GPA, a 99 percent average in Air Force JROTC, performed 25 hours of community/school service and is a drill team and color guard team member.
Lakeview High School’s Air Force JROTC Cadet Corps recently hosted parents and family members as guests to take part in their second quarter, school year 2018-19, Cadet Promotion and Recognition Ceremony.
Lakeview High School’s Air Force JROTC Kitty Hawk Air Society Team visited the VA Medical Center and Long Term Care Facility on Valentine’s Day to visit with veterans and patients. The cadets presented 200 personal notes, cards and gift baskets to the veterans. On front row from left Cadets Amber Hembree, Emma Hatten, Allison Anderson, Zoie Britt, Meagan Corley, Destinee Britt, Olivia Litton, Alaysia Demery, Shaquera Reliford, Shakayla Browder, Salem Johnson and Zack Favela. On back row are Karmen Jarriett, Ethan Smith, Kain Custis, Myla Porter, Jo Porter, James Owens, Blake Smith, Joshua Graham and Nicholas Wiggins.
The program recognized the achievements of the corps 75 cadets. Overall, 33 cadet promotions, 101 unit level ribbons and eight trophies were presented to cadets for achievements in leadership courses, academics, fitness, community service and overall performance for the second quarter.
