Deputies arrest Campti man on drug and firearm charges



Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Campti man on felony drug and firearm charges during a recent traffic stop in Campti according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday evening Feburary 26 at approximately 10:44pm, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division were patrolling on US-71 in Campti when they stopped a 2013 Hyundai Elantra for a traffic violation.

Deputies identified the driver of the vehicle as 45-year-old Michael Judah of Campti, La.

Deputies learned during a computer NLETS computer background check that Judah’s drivers license was suspended.

Deputies say during the traffic stop, Judah appeared very strange and nervous.

Two other passengers were in the vehicle including a juvenile.

Deputies obtained permission to search the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies seized a JC Higgins .22 caliber handgun under the drivers seat and small bag of suspected methamphetamine on the ground where Judah was standing.

Deputies reviewed their in-car camera observing Judah discard the suspected narcotics on the ground.

Michael Judah, 45, of the 200 block of Billy Stiles Road, Campti was placed under arrest, transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS II Methamphetamine, Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Felony, Criminal Obstruction of Justice, Illegal Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of a Juvenile, and Driving under Suspension.

The two passengers were released.

Judah remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center awaiting bond.
