Natchitoches Police Department responded to shots being fired near the 500 Block of Myrtle Drive Thursday, March 7 around 6 p.m. Officers discovered a male subject, McCary Breland, who stated that Steven Sykes had fired several shots at him during an altercation. Breland stated Sykes fired his weapon twice into the ground and once near his head in which his ear was cut from a suspected bullet grazing his head.
Steven Sykes, 31, 1519 Salter St., Natchitoches, later turned himself in to authorities and was arrested on one count of Aggravated Assault with Firearm, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Illegal Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Discharging a Firearm in the City Limits and Negligent Injuring. Sykes was later transported out to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center where he awaits bond. (no photo available)
