The Natchitoches Tax Commission hosted the first quarter conference of the La. Tax Association March 6-8 at the Natchitoches Events Center. Some 90 people registered for the meeting that began Wednesday with registration and meetings on phases of sales tax collection.

The delegates were treated to a fireworks display Wednesday evening on the river bank. On Thursday, there was an administrator roundtable session followed by several sessions for auditors and the board of directors. That afternoon, Luke Donovan of the La.Attorney General’s Office, presented on “Handling Public Records Requests”; Richard Barham presented on “Confidential Character of Tax Records”; Dr. Chad LaCour presented on La. Wallet; David Hall and Thaddeus Marcell presented on Occupational License Tax. On Friday, Luke Morris spoke on Direct Marketing Returns; Mark West gave the executive director’s update; Mike Curtis gave the legislative update; and Roger Bergeron gave an update on uniform local sales tax board.

There were 90 delegates registered to attend the La. Tax Association First Quarter Conference March 6-8 at the Natchitoches Events Center. Delegates listened to Luke Donovan present a seminar on handling public records requests Thursday afternoon.

Natchitoches Tax Commissioner Jerry McWherter spoke on ad valorem tax and Assessor Dollie Mahoney addressed the delegates. There were 90 delegates registered to attend the La.
