Dignitaries improvised Wednesday to break ground. Due to the threat of inclement weather, they used shovels and dirt in containers to symbolically break ground indoors.

LSMSA Board of Directors Chair Sharon Gahagan and Executive Director Steve Horton presented the program to a packed auditorium.

Remarks were presented by Sen. Jay Juneau, LA. Dist. 29.

The ceremony was followed by a reception in the Center for Preservation and Technology and featured a 200 pound cake replica of the new hall.
