Routine patrol results in arrest



Patrol Officer Tim Lee with the Natchitoches Police Department began to investigate suspicious activity near Lafayette Street at approximately 11:30 a.m. March 12. While attempting to identify the suspicions person, the perpetrator began to flee.

After a lengthy foot chase, a private citizen aided officers by blocking the roadway in front of the suspect with their vehicle.

The suspect, identified as Andrew D. Moore Jr., then attempted to gain entry into that vehicle but was quickly apprehended by the pursuing officer and NFD’s Chief of Fire Prevention Kory Leo. A search of the suspect revealed a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine and a clear plastic bag containing suspected synthetic marijuana.

Andrew Moore Jr., 42, of Natchitoches was charged with possession of schedule II, possession of schedule I, interference with an officer, resisting an officer and attempted carjacking. Moore was placed in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.
