The Natchitoches Genealogy Library contains hundreds of original land, tax, marriage and other records dating back to the establishment of Fort St. Jean Baptiste. There are over 3,000 books pertaining to other states and parishes, family history books and vertical files with numerous family genealogy records. Emphasis is placed on Natchitoches Parish and surrounding areas. From left are Melanie Norred Glenn of Gloster and Natchitoches Genealogy Library volunteer Peggy Aycock. Aycock provided assistance on how to “build a tree” on Ancestry.com and search various sites for information relevant to Glenn’s needs. The Natchitoches Genealogy Library is located on the first floor of the Old Courthouse. The library is open Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The phone number is (318) 357-2235. The genealogy library subscribes to ancestry.com and fold3.com (military website) and is free to use.
