Fire Marshal investigating deaths in Franklinton area


State Fire Marshal deputies are on the scene of a fire investigation involving two deaths and three injuries in the Franklinton area.

Franklinton Fire and Rescue responded to the call in the 45000 block of Beau Drive around 12:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters rescued several occupants from the home; however, two children, a 10-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy, were unable to be saved. Three of the five occupants rescued were also children— a 6-year-old girl, 4-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy. All three were air-lifted to Baton Rouge hospitals for treatment. Two adults escaped uninjured.

SFM deputies are currently conducting their investigation into the origin and cause of this tragic fire.
