NSU Jazz Orchestra to perform April 9


The Northwestern State University Jazz Orchestra will perform on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. Galindo Rodriguez will conduct the orchestra.

The concert will feature guest artists Luke Brouillette on guitar and Rachel Hall on clarinet along with works by Northwestern State student Alex Guillory.

On the program are “Blackbird” by Lenon and McCartney and transcribed by Matt Any featuring Andrew Boyd on vibraphone, “Harlem Airshaft” by Duke Ellington and transcribed by David Berger featuring Hall, Lane Clevenger on trumpet and Michael King on trombone and “Soft Winds” by Fred Stride with Daniel Scott on tenor saxophone.

The Jazz Orchestra will also perform “Mr. Small” by Brouillette and orchestrated by Guillory featuring Brouillette, “Winelight” by Grover Washington, Jr. and arranged by Guillory featuring the saxophone section, “Mashup” by Guillory featuring Scott and Clevenger and “Groovin Hard” by Don Menza featuring Scott.
