NSU students advocate for higher ed at ULS Day

bout 250 Northwestern State University students, along with about 50 faculty/staff and several alumni participated in University of Louisiana System Day at the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge Wednesday to advocate for higher education and meet with legislators. The NSU students were among about 1,200 students from eight other system schools who heard from speakers Governor John Bel Edwards, UL System Board Chair Mark Romero, UL System President/CEO Jim Henderson and UL System Student Representative Richard Davis. Spirit groups, mascots and performance ensembles created a festival atmosphere on the Capitol lawn where each school showcased outstanding academic programs. Also on Wednesday, state universities testified before the House Budget Committee.
