Tuesday was an emotional day for Tax Assessor Dollie Charles Mahoney who decided to publicly announce that she will not seek a third term. “When you have spent 37 years of your life, walking up the same steps, into the same building and same office, it is certainly hard to think that there is another path for you,” Mahoney said.
“With much prayer and thought, my husband, daughter and I have decided that this will be my last term in office.” She chose now to announce her decision since qualifying for the October election begins in August. “I owe it to the public to give others a chance to run for the office.”
