2 fatalities under investigation at NSU


Today, the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office was notified of two separate incidents involving students who attend Northwestern State University. The two incidents were unrelated.
We were notified at approximately 10 a.m. that a student, Samuel Taylor, 46, of Natchitoches had a witnessed collapse while in class and was transported by ambulance Natchitoches Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. At this time, no suspicious circumstances exist, and his death appears due to natural causes.
We were also notified at approximately 11:20 a.m. of a student, Michael Robichaux,  23, of Pineville, and a resident at the school, was discovered deceased in his apartment. His death remains under investigation by our office as well as Northwestern State University Police. No foul play is suspected; however, an autopsy will be conducted to determine exact cause of death.
