Natchitoches, known for Steel Magnolias and The Horse Soldiers, will once again be featured on the screen, but this time it is the small screen. An episode of “Relative Race” a non-scripted BYUtv program, was filmed here last weekend.

Janice and Patrick Wright from Team Black on season 1 stated:
“Our feelings about family have always been important to us.”

The genealogy-based show is in its sixth season and operates on a format similar to The Amazing Race.

One team of contestants traced, and chased, their DNA to Natchitoches.

The premise of the show has four teams on an emotional 10-day journey throughout the United States as they complete challenges and discover unknown relatives identified through DNA testing.

The winning team receives a $50,000 grand prize.
