Oct. 30, 1932-May 16, 2019

George Harris, 86, of Calmer, Ark., passed away May 16, 2019, in Little Rock, Ark., after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 30, 1932, in Randall, Ark., to Ethel Rodgers Harris and Edward Harris.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict stationed in Jacksonville, Ark., Greenville, Miss., and Thule, Greenland. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Mill Creek Masonic Lodge #178, Scottish Rite, Sahara Shrine Temple and Pine Bluff Chapter USABDA.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eloise Jones Harris of Little Rock; two daughters, Rhonda Reilly (Jim) of Bonnerdale, Ark., and Carmen Tucker (Charles) of Rye, Ark.; sister, Almarieda Hyatt of Pine Bluff, Ark.; four grandchildren, Allison White, Travis Reilly, Lisa Davis and Kacy Johnson; and 10 great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Edward Harris.   He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Calmer.

George graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1951 and attended the University of Arkansas Monticello until joining the USAF.  After military service he worked in Pine Bluff for City Electric and International Paper.

In 1964 he moved his wife and family to Natchitoches where they were partners in brick plants and other ventures.  He later moved his family to Naples, Fla., with partners to develop a Real Estate project.

Upon completion of the Real Estate project George and his family moved back to Natchitoches where he retired in 1980.  Once retired he and his wife moved back to Arkansas to be with family and friends.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday, May 20, at Enon Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Visitation is from 1 p.m. till service time Monday.
