Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating the suspicious death of an expecting female in Clarence.

The investigation began Monday, June 3 at approximately 9:45 a.m. when the NPSO 911 Communications Center received reports of an unresponsive pregnant female in the 300 block of Greenville Drive in Clarence.

Clarence Marshal’s Office and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded.

Shortly after arriving on scene, the Clarence Marshal’s Office requested assistance from the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. They reported finding a deceased female in the rear of the residence.

NPSO deputies, Criminal Investigations Division, Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office and Natchitoches Parish District Attorney’s Office responded.

Detectives have identified the deceased as Elonzeya Zoeleah Teal, 22, of the 300 block of Mill Street, Campti. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Natchitoches Parish Deputy Asst. Coroner Steven Clanton.

Detectives have been at the scene throughout the morning processing the crime scene, gathering evidence and talking to family members.

The body is being sent for an autopsy to determine the manner of death.

Sheriff Victor Jones said detectives are in the early stages of this investigation, however, at this time we believe the death appears to be “suspicious.”

The investigation is active and ongoing.
