Three St. Mary’s Lady Tigers have been named to the 2019 La. Softball Coaches Association All-State Team in District 1A. They are Ragan Hale, Chloe Longlois and Meredith Matt.
Twenty-six players were chosen in each class including four pitchers, four catchers, six infielders, four outfielders and eight utility players. Each coach in the district voted for 20 players. There are 12 schools in District 1A and each coach could nominate up to four players.
Hale, a junior, had a batting average of .489 with 14 RBIs. Hale was named to the All-State team as an infielder and played shortstop for the Tigers. She has twice been previously been an All-State selection.
Matt had a batting average of .500 with 43 RBIs and an amazing 11 homeruns. She was the stellar pitcher for the Tigers and was named to the All-State team for the second year.
Longlois posted a .489 batting average with an impressive 43 RBIs. She played left and right field and was named to the All-Stat team as a utility player.
Hale, Longlois and Matt were also named to the 1-A All-District team, a requirement for being named All-State. At the end of the season, Matt and Hale were named Overall Co-MVPs and Longlois was named Offensive MVP.
