Mercie Dee Honore’ was born Dec. 22, 1946, to the late Raymond and Bernice LaCour in the Cloutierville Community. On Feb. 12, 1966, she married the absolute love of her life, James Jerome Honore’, and to this union, three sons were born.
Mercie Dee was a devoted wife of 40 years and the most loving mother a child could ever have. During her 36 years in Michigan, Mercie Dee was committed to raising and providing for her family. She worked in the service and retail industry where she developed long-lasting friendships that endured until her final day. She loved to go on outings to the zoo, barbecue at the park or just go for a walk. Mercie Dee loved to crochet and cherished her dolls, plants and flowers, and her home reflected it. In 2002, Mercie Dee and Jerome returned to their roots on Cane River to enjoy family and friends.
She was strong in her faith and served as a member of St. John’s Altar Society, choir and bingo committee. She also served as an associate with the Congregation of Sisters of Divine Providence in San Antonio, Texas. Upon losing Jerome in 2006, accompanied with numerous health setbacks, Mercie Dee continued to push forward, never quit and persevered through all her challenges.
In 2017, she found her way back to Michigan to be close to her grandchildren.
On June 17, 2019, the Lord took Mercie Dee home to be with Jerome.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, James Jerome Honore’ Jr. of Seabrook, Texas, Mitchell Honore’ and wife Carrie of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Christopher Honore’ and wife Nicole of Clinton Township, Mich.; her six grandchildren, Jared, Kylie, Luc, Cole, Grant and Rhys; two sisters, Delores Eli of Natchitoches and Shela Byone and husband Johnny of Cloutierville; three brothers, Joseph Severin and wife Agatha of Chicago, Ill., Raymond LaCour Jr. and wife Lydia of Houston and Allen LaCour and wife Marsha of Cloutierville; an uncle, Earl LaCour and wife Amelia of Chicago, Ill.; brother-in-law- Roman Honore’ and wife Annie Ruth of Southfield, Mich.; two sisters-in-law Margie Honore’ of Alexandria and Norma Honore’ of Natchitoches; her dearest friend, Nazy LaCour; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
