Funeral services for Lena Mae Howell O’Bannon South were Wednesday, July 3 at 2 p.m. in the Provencal United Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. Paul Grace and the Rev. Buddy Boswell officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Provencal under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.

Visitation was Wednesday, July 3 from 10 a.m. until service time in the church.

Lena was born Nov. 9, 1944, in New Roads to her parents, Thomas Edward and Audrey Mae McIlwain Howell. She passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019, in West Monroe.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, not to just her own children, but to many children through the years. She was loved by everyone she met and she was a friend to all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Earl O’Bannon; siblings Carrol William Howell and Joy Lee Howell Thomasee.

She is survived by her children Jerry and Candy O’Bannon of Provencal, Bruce and Sarah Jan O’Bannon of Provencal, Glen and Melissa O’Bannon of Hagewood and Jeanette and Scott Jiles of West Monroe; brother Byron Howell of Phillipines; sister Jean Coffman of Shreveport; niece/sister Vera Howell Brandenburg of Eagle Lake, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
