Grab your camera and come by Magnolia Plantation for a free photography workshop from Annabel Jones Saturday, July 20. This workshop will focus on tips for outdoor photography of the amazing historic buildings and nature found at Magnolia.
“We are pleased offer a free photography workshop at Cane River Creole National Historical Park,” said Chief of Interpretation Barbara Justice. “Professional photographer Annabel Jones has both a passion for teaching and sharing her ‘secrets’ of outdoor photography.”
You must bring your own DSLR camera. This free workshop will be at Magnolia Plantation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You are welcome to bring a lunch. No registration required. Magnolia Plantation is located at 5549 Highway 119, Derry. The Louisiana Department of Transportation officially closed Highway 119 leading to Magnolia from the north due to safety concerns. All visitor access will be from the south from Highway 1.
The grounds of Oakland and Magnolia Plantations are open daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nearly 80 original buildings remain, many open for self-guided tours including several that are historically furnished. The park also offers a cell phone tour. Park staff conducts daily tours of the plantation grounds and historically furnished rooms in the Oakland Main House. The Magnolia Main House is privately owned and is not open to the public.
