Believe it or not, good outcomes can come out of news articles. Recently, JT learned of a good outcome that came from one of the newspaper’s columns – getting a shelter dog a much needed treatment.
As an animal-lover herself, Lifestyle Editor Hannah Richardson created the weekly “Adoptable Spotlight” column as a way to give local shelter animals more attention. Getting dogs adopted is the main goal for these shelters, but even a little bit of attention can go a long way. A few weeks ago, one of the spotlights was Lady, of NHS’ Happy Tails Shelter. Lady needed treatment for heartworms.
According to Juanita Murphy of NHS, a generous local saw Lady’s spotlight in the Natchitoches Times and offered to pay for her treatment in full. To this person that offered to pay for Lady’s heartworm, thank you so much.
JT hopes even more positive outcomes occur for our local shelter dogs!
