Confidence is increasing that a tropical disturbance will impact our region this weekend into early next week.
Timing and Overview:
An area of low pressure in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico is forecast to move westward and gain strength over the next few days. It appears likely that it will become a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours. While quite a bit of uncertainty still exists, models seem to be consistently suggesting that this system will impact our area. Expect changes and adjustments to the forecast to continue over the next few days due to this uncertainty.
Possible Four State Impacts:
Heavy rainfall will be possible across at least some portion of our region, mainly late Saturday through Tuesday, and especially in close proximity to and to the east of the track of the tropical cyclone center. Exact amounts and the location of the heaviest amounts remains uncertain. The attached rainfall graphic is provided to reflect possible amounts based upon the current forecast.
