The Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Parish office interest meeting Thursday, July 18, called “It Starts with You: Running for Parish Office 101”. The meeting will be from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m., at the Municipal Building, 560 Second St..
This public informational meeting is for those interested in playing a role in the Parish races, whether planning to run for office or perhaps encouraging a qualified friend or colleague to run. There will be presentations by the Clerk of Court’s Office, the Chamber and individuals who can answer questions about how to run for public office.
“In our community, there is an important conversation happening about the upcoming election for Parish President and Parish Council. I’m encouraged by the passion and engagement of our citizens in this very important race. If you feel passionately about the individuals representing you on the Parish Council or as Parish President, you should plan to attend and get involved in the process,” says Chamber President Laura Lyles.
The Chamber is also planning public forums for the Parish and Sheriff races, to take place mid-September.
