Natchitoches Police arrest suspect for Attempted Second Degree Murder in Berry Avenue shooting

The Natchitoches Police Department received a tip July 25 around 11 a.m. that Steven Vercher Jr., b/m, 20, of Natchitoches was in the 2300 block of Hwy 6.  Officers located Vercher who fled on foot into a wooded area.  Officers and deputies from the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter and took Vercher Jr. into custody without incident.
Vercher Jr. is charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder and was placed in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center where he awaits bond.
Original Story:  Natchitoches Police investigate shooting on Berry Avenue
On June 28 around 1:33 a.m., the Natchitoches Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Berry Avenue in reference to a shooting.  Upon officers arrival to the area the located Marcus Beaudion suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.  Beaudion was transported to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and later to the Rapides Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.
