Arrest made in arson case

Natchitoches Fire Department firefighters responded Sept. 14 around 7 a.m. to the 1500 block of Mandell Street in reference to a house fire. Upon arrival they located multiple areas of the house where an apparent accelerant was used to set the fire.
The Natchitoches Fire Department Investigation Division arrived and determined that the fire was intentionally set.  Investigators spoke with several witnesses that stated a male set the fire and fled the scene in a vehicle.
Natchitoches Fire Department Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Carl Johnson Jr., b/m, 21, of Natchitoches for seven counts of Aggravated Arson.
Johnson Jr. was arrested without incident and placed in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.
