Provencal third grader Will Elkins and eighth grader Leyton Whittington assisted in raising the new flag by Rodney Meziere, a PJHS seventh-eighth grade ELA teacher and 4-H sponsor.
The Elkins family donated a new American flag to Provencal Elementary and Junior High School in memory of Thomas T. Elkins. Elkins graduated from Northwestern State University and was a former Natchitoches Parish teacher and principal.
Thomas T. Elkins
He taught at Natchitoches High School and Flora High School; he was principal of Robeline High School and Parks Elementary School. Elkins was also a member of the Natchitoches Parish Hospital Board and served two terms as mayor of Robeline.
