Lansing – Cofield

Milton Laverne Cofield and Jill Anne Lansing were married at First Baptist Church, Amulet, in the groom’s hometown of Natchitoches at 6 o’clock in the afternoon Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019.  The wedding was officiated by the Rev. Thomas Carter Sr.

The bride is the daughter of Lawrence Lansing and the late Carol Connery Lansing of Green Island, N.Y. The groom is the son of the late Andrew Cofield Jr. and the late Rosa Mae Cofield of Natchitoches.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white off-the-shoulder sequined lace and tulle dress with a sweep train and a lace-trimmed veil with a floral crystal tiara. She carried a bouquet of white and pink roses. The groom wore a sky blue sharkskin suit with a pink tie and pocket square.  Following the ceremony, the couple was joined by family and friends in a New Orleans-style second line parade to the Cofield family home for a jubilant reception.

The bride is a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy, N.Y.  She received a Bachelor’s degree from Russell Sage College for Women in Troy and a Master’s degree from Sage Graduate School. She was awarded a Ph.D. from the University at Albany in Albany, N.Y.

The groom is a graduate of Central High School, class of 1969. He holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Illinois in Champaign–Urbana, an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, and a B.S. degree in chemistry from Southern University. He was Fulbright Scholar in the Graduate Institute of Technology and Innovation Management at the National Chengchi University of Taipei, Taiwan. He served as Vice Chancellor of the New York State Board of Regents and as a member of the Board of Governors for the New York Academy of Sciences.  The groom is a Distinguished Service Professor of Business Management at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. He previously served as Distinguished Teaching Professor and executive director of the Undergraduate Business Administration program at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Following the wedding celebration in Natchitoches, the couple traveled to the bride’s hometown to celebrate their marriage with family and friends at the Franklin Terrace Ballroom in Troy Friday evening, Aug. 9.
