Gutsy…and the right call. That’s what JT thinks…and so do a lot of folks he’s talked to… of NSU football Coach Brad Laird’s decision to go for the win against nationally ranked Central Arkansas last Saturday night in their Homecoming game.
The Demons, who are winless through seven games, had the option with just 90 seconds left in the game to kick an extra point for a tie, or go for a two-point conversion and take the lead. Laird, without any hesitation, made the call to go for the win. Unfortunately, the pass play was incomplete. But Laird’s decision should be applauded.
JT knows that “almost” doesn’t count, but this team is making us proud. It was probably their best overall performance this season. This team really has come a long way and they displayed a “We won’t give up” attitude against Central Arkansas.
Their efforts are going to pay off. The Demons are on the road the next two weeks and won’t come back to Turpin Stadium until Nov. 9 when they host Lamar. Hope to see you there because there’s a lot of excitement around Demon Football, both pre-game and game time. In case you forgot, the Demon Marching Band performs at the tailgating party, pre-game and at halftime.
They are one of the best bands in the nation. Oh yea, you can now buy a beer in Turpin Stadium. Surprised the marketing department hasn’t played that up in their promotional efforts. JT can see it now….Saturday is BBB night in Turpin Stadium. Brad’s boys, Band and Booze.
Come get happy at NSU.
