The Natchitoches Central Chiefs travelled back to Lee Hedges Stadium, a place very familiar to the Chiefs. Just two weeks ago the Chiefs ended their streak of road games at this very stadium. The Chiefs were coming off a blowout win against Southwood, a game where the offense, defense and special teams played a complete game.
Prior to playing against the Captain Shreve Gators, Coach Byron Keller called out his senior leaders saying, “The results of tonight’s game will determine if we get to do this another week or not.” Coach Keller needed his senior players to step up big to give the Gators just their second loss of the year. After both teams went three and out on their first position of the game it was the Gators ball again with a little over 5 minutes left in the first quarter.
Justin Aaron for the Chiefs high points the pass and intercepts the ball preventing the Gators from putting up points. The Gators force another 3 and out. The Gators assuming drive was stopped by Jacoby Timms who forced a fumble by Ferman Walker. A few plays later Rodney Robinson runs over defenders to score a 45 yard TD. Sam Maggio’s PAT was good, pushing the lead to 7-0.
That would unfortunately be the one and only time the Chiefs found the endzone that night…
