NATCHITOCHES, LA

March 25, 1926-Oct. 27, 2019

Florene “Flo” Brouillette, 93, of Natchitoches passed away peacefully Oct. 27, 2019, after a long illness, surrounded by loved ones.  Flo was born in Echo, La., to John E. and Florence Borell March 25, 1926. She married the late A.J. Brouillette in 1944 and was a resident of Natchitoches since 1956.

Prior to retiring, Flo worked alongside A.J. as an office manager for his land survey business. She loved to travel with A.J. and they were fortunate to have visited many places in the United States, Canada and Europe. She was a devout Catholic who was a member of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Thursday afternoon rosary group.

Flo had many talents. She loved to sew, paint, knit, do embroidery and needlepoint. She was a former member of the Bernina Sewing Club of Bossier City and an accomplished seamstress who crafted heirloom pieces. She lovingly made beautiful, intricately sewn christening gowns and bonnets for family members as well as for donation to the Catholic Church gift shop. For many years she was an active member of the Laureate Chi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of her “sisters” and their many social events and charitable projects.

Flo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.J.; son, Lynn Brouillette M.D.; grandsons, John E. Brouillette and Michael Yaghoubian; and daughter-in-law, Dawn Brouillette.

She is survived by three children, Emily Yaghoubian and husband Michael Neklutin of Natchitoches, Bruce Brouillette M.D. and wife Marcia of Benton and Luke Brouillette of Natchitoches; as well as eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Luke LaFleur. Entombment will follow at the Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family wishes to extend their utmost gratitude to Flo’s devoted caregivers, the nurses of Hospice of Natchitoches and Dr. Kathleen Kautz.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Flo’s memory to the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 145 Church St., Natchitoches, LA 71457.
