Gators hit the road in first round of playoffs

Following an outstanding 6-4 season, the Lakeview Gators found their way to the LHSAA Class 2A playoffs for the first time since 2016. They are the only local team to advance. The Gators were awarded the #22 seed and pulled a first round matchup against #11 seed South Plaquemines Hurricanes. This game will be in Empire Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. This is nearly a 12 hour round trip for the Gators, and is literally the farthest they could have travelled out of every team in the state.

The Hurricanes like to spread the ball out, so our defense must be disciplined in every aspect. While on defense, the Hurricanes are very aggressive, and will be firing on all cylinders to attack the Gator backfield.

When the Gators have the ball, it will be a different style of play. Usually, establishing the run game always comes first, but this week, Lakeview will use the pass game to set up the run game for a more balanced style of attack.  When the Gators do run, they will need a lot of yardage from #22 RB/LB Daylon Fowler. Fowler is the main man when it comes to the run game and the offense as a whole for the Gators.

A big night from him means almost guaranteed success for Lakeview.  A win this week means a home playoff game next week against either #6 seed Kentwood, or #27 seed Bunkie, a Gator victim this year. Hold on to your seats as the Lakeview Gators head to their first playoff game since being put back on the map.
