Dustin Champagne found this adult female eagle on Joe Pierson’s farm on Bayou Pierre. The eagle was suffering from a broken wing. Champagne and others captured the eagle by throwing a net over it, thereby calming it and making it docile enough to hold. She was treated by a veterinarian and her wing was set. She was taken to a rehabilitation sanctuary in Shreveport specializing in birds to recover from her injury. The eagle will be released back into its native habitat after it is fully recovered, in about two months.
